A Chesterfield junior football team has netted a cash boost from a regional housebuilder to help fund its new kit.
Chesterfield Junior Blues Pythons received £1,000 from Persimmon Homes Nottingham, thanks to its Community Champion scheme. The under 12s team coach, Ricky Coates, said: “This is wonderful news for the team. The donation will fund a new match kit and winter training clothing as well as new training equipment.
“With the season being disrupted, due to the pandemic, having a brand-new kit is a massive boost for the team’s morale. The extra training equipment will benefit not only my players but also the whole junior club. We are very grateful to Persimmon Homes.”
The Persimmon Homes Community Champions match-funding initiative seeks to support grassroots groups and charities in areas where the company is building.
Neil Follows, managing director of Persimmon Homes Nottingham, said: “Grassroot sport is incredibly important for local communities and as we recently launched a new development in Hasland, Alderman Park, we are delighted to be supporting a neighbourhood club.”
Persimmon Homes Nottingham makes two donations of up to £1,000 every month to grassroot groups and charities in the areas where it is building. Visit www.persimmonhomes.com/charity to apply for Community Champions funding.
