Children’s health charity gets housebuilder’s cash

A Doncaster children’s mental health charity has received £1,000 donation from a housebuilder, to help maintain its services.

Worth Unlimited for Doncaster was awarded the funds from Persimmon Homes South Yorkshire, thanks to its Community Champions scheme.

The not-for-profit organisation works with schools across Doncaster by providing a mentoring service to help support children’s mental health and wellbeing.

Carol Parker-Cowan, from Worth Unlimited, said: “We are immensely pleased to receive this donation from Persimmon Homes. The past few month has been an incredibly challenging and difficult for many of the young people we support.

“We work closely with many schools in the region and focus our sessions on building individuals’ confidence and self-esteem, which has been particularly important as the children returned to the classroom.

“We rely on donations and grants to continue our work, so are very grateful to Persimmon Homes.”

Persimmon Homes South Yorkshire makes two donations of up to £1,000 every month to grassroots groups and charities in the areas where it is building.

Richard Hosie, director in charge for Persimmon Homes South Yorkshire, said: “We’re delighted to be able to assist such a valuable charity during these challenging times, especially one that provides people with such caring support.”
