When Naomi Clarke moved into her new house in Wellesbourne she knew it would become a place where she would build a family and set about creating a home that perfectly suits family life.
Naomi and her husband, who got married in Mauritius early last year, fell in love with the Hadleigh at The Grange having been drawn to it spacious layout, and moved in on August Bank Holiday last year. They quickly set about turning an empty canvas into a beautifully designed home, that has captured the attention of more than 17,000 followers on Instagram @homes4nomes. However, the young couple have now welcomed baby Ollie, as well as puppy Benji, and have worked hard to create a home that is perfect for all of them.
Naomi said: “We particularly liked the Hadleigh because of its large open plan kitchen. A lot of people turn the room into a kitchen/living area, but we use it as our dining room instead, and it is a huge space for us all to enjoy. It meant we could turn the actual dining room into a playroom for Ollie, which has proved perfect for the family and Benji even has a dog basket in there, which he loves.”
Creating a gorgeous nursery was obviously high on Naomi’s list for a touch of interior magic, but she had very definite ideas about what she wanted. She said: “We knew we were going to have a little boy, and a lot of the house is grey, but I wanted the nursery to be different and stand out from the rest of the house. I chose a neutral colour scheme and natural wood. It is also the only room where I have used curtains in the house, rather than French shutters or blinds. I also wanted the room to be cute enough to show it was a nursery, but not too childish as I want him to be able to grow up a little before we have to change it. To achieve this, I chose some wall art, that depicts leaves, a zebra, a butterfly, and a lion, which works really well. One design feature I especially like is the shelving. It is actually two kitchen herb holders, but I turned them into shelves and hang Ollie’s clothes on them, so they are attractive but really useful as well.” Naomi has also used wall art in the playroom, which has a dalmatian wall, making the room perfect for all ages.

The couple’s living room has proved a particular hit with Instagram followers, after they added a fake wall to create a TV and fireplace feature. Naomi added: “A lot of people comment on our living room, which is lovely. We also really like the character that panelling has added to the house. It's inexpensive, quick to fit and really makes a difference.
We have used it in three rooms so far, the kitchen and dining room and the living room and we are adding it to the hallway too. It is made of MDF and we have it cut to shape and have painted it white. It took a day to complete each room. It is a strong statement, but it adds so much character for relatively little cost. I would describe our style as contemporary but with a heritage twist, as we also like wicker as well.”
Naomi started her Instagram journey about a month before they moved into the Hadleigh as she started planning her interior design. She added: “I have a degree in marketing, and I wanted to grow something as a hobby. I thought it would be just family and friends that liked my pictures and didn’t expect so much interest and messages galore. It has just grown and grown, and I am really enjoying it – it is a bridge between marketing and a hobby.” Naomi has plenty of content lined up, as there are still rooms in her house to be given a makeover, in-between juggling being a full-time mum.
