A Derbyshire Dementia project has received £1,000 donation from Persimmon Homes.

Making Space receive the funding courtesy of the Persimmon Homes Community Champions scheme.

The match-funding initiative seeks to support grassroots groups and charities in areas where the company is building.

Making Space runs a Dementia Capability walled rose garden in Markeaton Park, providing a space for members to enjoy the outdoors and garden amongst friends. The group will use the donation to purchase additional tools and plants to continue to stock the space.

Mary Brown, from the group, said: “We have now started back at our garden group, providing weekly back-to-back sessions to safely accommodate all our members.”

“Our group provides the perfect space for individuals to experience controlled exercise, fresh air, tackle isolation and have the support of others, maximising networking skills and providing independence in a safe environment.”

“We know our services are valued by both our members and their families and we are all very grateful to Persimmon Homes North Midlands for its support.”
