Our ambassador Ben Reid and his fiancé Jon have made an impact on their four-bedroom Raleigh- style home in Plymouth with their strong styling choices.

The couple have been captivated by their home from start to finish and have chosen a “bold” theme for their statement décor.

Ben explains: “We moved into our Persimmon home in January 2017 and it was our first - and unexpected - house purchase! To be honest we didn’t intend to go out and buy a house that day! We just went up to our local development to look around but really loved the area and fell in love with a plot that had just come up ready to reserve, it was a four-bed, detached and in a nice open space. When we reserved our house it was literally at foundation stage so it was amazing watching it being built - I think we drove over to see it pretty much every night to see if anything had changed and to watch its progress."

“That was quite some dedication too. We reserved our home in October and it was ready to move in at the end of January. I think the positive of buying a new build is you can start fresh and design everything before you move in by choosing certain upgrades and extras Persimmon offer. Being able to reserve early and to have the freedom to make those choices was a massive plus for us." Ben also cautions against rushing into any decisions when it comes to styling your home and to remember to choose what makes you happiest.

“I think we’ve finally got our decor how we want it after three years! I would always recommend choosing things you genuinely like, rather than just following trends, as they never seem to last long. When it comes to inspiration for decor and styling accessories, the home community on Instagram is amazing. We decided to go bold and daring with the black decor, which isn’t to everyone’s taste, but we love it! We get many compliments on how unique our home is. With our decor we decided to stick to one theme so the rooms flowed and tied in nicely together, in blacks and greys. Our favourite feature of our house is our downstairs space. We went for a four-bedroom property purely to get the bigger downstairs space. Our living room is absolutely huge, and it really does have those cinema room vibes, which is exactly what we wanted to achieve!"

Ben concluded: “Jon owns his own security business and I left my job two years ago to help support him and also give us a bit more freedom to travel whenever we want but it is always fantastic to return to @the.lads.pad.”
