A West Yorkshire housebuilder has donated bricks to Wakefield College to help trainee bricklayers hone their craft.
Representatives from West Yorkshire recently visited construction students at the college to share their industry experiences and help assess coursework projects. The delivery of bricks will provide students with additional tools to develop their skills and continue their hands-on sessions. Stuart Galloway, construction director at West Yorkshire visited the students with the company’s technical director Sam Sowrey.
Stuart said: “We feel it’s important, not only for Persimmon Homes, but for the wider building industry, to support construction students and help develop a young and talented workforce. “It was a pleasure to meet the students and be part of their practical studies. We were very happy to donate the bricks to help the college train our future builders.”
Debbie Lee, work placement officer for construction at Wakefield College, said: “We are very grateful to Persimmon Homes’ kind donation. “We believe it’s very beneficial for our students to meet key industry figures and understand first-hand the reality of their future job expectations. The students found the visit both helpful and inspiring and we hope to maintain this relationship with Persimmon Homes.”
