Two East Anglian groups have scooped £1,000 of community funding each from Persimmon Homes.
The Lowestoft Men’s Shed and Norwich-based Papillon Project were selected by Persimmon Homes Anglia to receive the donations through its Community Champions scheme.
The match-funding initiative seeks to support grassroots groups and charities in areas where the company is building.
John Eldridge, director in charge for Persimmon Homes Anglia, said: “At a time like this, when voluntary groups, sports clubs and charities are not able to hold their usual fundraising events, we are proud to help worthy local causes.”
“Both of this month’s winners work to support the health and wellbeing of local people, from young to old, helping to develop sustainable communities across the region.”

The Papillon Project is an educational charity that promotes sustainable living and environmental awareness through Norfolk schools and colleges, inspiring young people to grow their own food in school allotments. Persimmon’s funding will help the charity to deliver its service to more local schools.
Launched in 2016, Lowestoft Men's Shed is open three mornings a week to around 56 local members, all aged over 55. The group offers a social space to share hobbies and interests, reducing feelings of isolation. The donation from Persimmon will be used on repairs to the building.
Persimmon Homes Anglia makes two donations of up to £1,000 every month. The online application form can be found at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity
