Regional groups compete for share of Persimmon Homes £1 million charity prize fund

Regional groups supporting young people across Britain have been shortlisted for the chance to win £100,000 in a housebuilder’s charity competition.

Persimmon Homes has selected 96 good causes as finalists in its Building Futures scheme, which will give away £1 million nationally this year to projects that benefit under-18s.

The groups are competing in an online public vote across three categories targeting grassroots sports groups, health organisations and arts & education projects.

Voting is live at www.persimmonhomes.com/building-futures/ until midnight on 18 September 2020.

David Jenkinson, Group Chief Executive of Persimmon Homes, said: “Building Futures aims to create a lasting legacy for young people and the groups that support them.”

“We have been overwhelmed by the response and it is clear there are a lot of very worthy causes supporting the younger generation and many local people working exceptionally hard to help them.”

“We wish all of our regional finalists the very best of luck and would urge people to show their support by voting for them.”

Building Futures is being delivered through the Persimmon Charitable Foundation, which last year donated £1.7 million to community projects and charities.

Charities, clubs or groups have been selected to represent each of the company’s 32 regional businesses. One initiative from each category will go on to win £100,000 each through a national award scheme to be decided by a public vote.

As well as the £100,000 first prize, there will be a £50,000 second prize and a £20,000 third prize in each sector, while the remaining 87 shortlisted projects will each receive £5,000.

Online voting opened on Monday 27 July and runs until midnight on September 18.
