Two worthy Lancashire causes have been selected to receive £1,000 from Persimmon’s charity funding scheme.
Clayton and Whittle Family Centre and Braille IT were chosen by Persimmon Lancashire as part of the Community Champions initiative, which supports local charities and groups.
Diane Finch, sales director for Persimmon Lancashire, said: “We are proud of the wide range of voluntary groups, community clubs, schools and charities we are able to help through this funding scheme.”
“Every month we support two local good causes with donations - and it is so easy to apply. Simply complete the application form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity telling us how you would use £1,000 to help people in your neighbourhood.”
Clayton and Whittle Family Centre, based at Clayton Brook Primary School, Bamber Bridge, works with disadvantaged and vulnerable young children and their families. The group operates across eight other primary schools in the Chorley and Preston area and will use its £1,000 grant from Persimmon to purchase mental health and well-being resources for the schools to help support those most affected by the pandemic.

Clitheroe charity Braille IT offers accredited free tuition in Braille skills to blind or visually impaired, parents and carers and anyone affected by visual impairment at five centres around East Lancashire. To help vulnerable people impacted by the lockdown, the charity has switched its services to online and postal activities and will use the £1,000 from Community Champions to cover the additional costs of these resources.
Persimmon Homes Lancashire operates new homes developments across Lancashire and Cumbria.
