Community cash for Suffolk good causes

Two good causes in Suffolk have become the latest Community Champions winners in the region.

Steel Bones, a charity which supports amputees, and gardening service Eye Works 4 U, both successfully applied for the funding initiative which offers donations of up to £1,000.

Ian Hamilton, managing director for Persimmon Suffolk, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer our support to two very worthy causes in Suffolk, who make a real difference to the lives of local people.”

Steel Bones is a registered charity which helps amputee families to live life to the full, offering support in moments of stress and crisis. The charity provides regular social events as well as awareness workshops. They currently provide support for 500 families, with a further 200 families on their waiting list. Eye Works 4 U offers training and work experience in gardening for young adults with learning difficulties and other disadvantages. The donation from Persimmon Homes will be used to replace worn-out tools and equipment so that more people can benefit from the service.

Ian Hamilton added: “We make two donations of up to £1,000, every month through our Community Champions scheme and are encouraging more applications from good causes and charities in the local area.”
