Housebuilder outlines ambitions for Felixstowe development

A leading housebuilder has outlined its ambitions for a Felixstowe ‘garden village’ as planners give the green light to the first phase of 255 properties.

Persimmon Homes Suffolk secured consent from East Suffolk Council for the development at Candlet Road, to be named Trelawny Place.

Ian Hamilton, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes Suffolk, said: “This development will bring much-needed new homes and an economic boost to the area, laying the foundations for a thriving new community to the North of the Town.

“A project of this scale has the potential to create more than 750 jobs – both those directly employed in the construction of the site, and indirectly through the supply chain and additional spending within the local community.”

In addition to the new properties, of which 85 will be designated as affordable homes, Trelawny Place will deliver a high-quality environment with play provision, open space and landscaping, a circular pathway and pedestrian and cycle ways lining the development to the wider Garden Neighbourhood.

The mixture of traditional and contemporary house types will be enhanced by a raft of sustainable features, including 20 per cent of energy from renewable sources, electric vehicle charging points, wildlife habitats and water features.

Significant financial contributions will be made towards new or enhanced public footpaths and strategic highways improvements through a Section 106 agreement. The County Council will also receive money through the Community Infrastructure Levy which will allow the expansion of the primary and secondary schools.

Persimmon Homes aims to start work on the site in March this year with the first homes expected to be available in Autumn 2021.

Potential buyers are invited to register their interest in the homes to be first to find out when properties are released for sale.
