Douglas Macmillan Hospice has received a £1,000 donation from Persimmon Homes West Midlands to support its Wellbeing services.
Dougie Mac, as it is more affectionally known, was awarded the funds through the Persimmon Homes Community Champions scheme.
Supporting more than 3,500 patients with life-limiting illness every year across in Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire, the hospice provides a range of care services for those individuals, and their families, at a most difficult time in their lives.
Jilly Lawton, Trust and Philanthropic Fundraiser for Dougie Mac, said: “This is wonderful news for our Wellbeing team. In addition to our care programmes, we provide a dedicated spiritual care service which offers conversation, relaxation, guided mediation, and prayer to help ease anxiety and loneliness, often experienced during these difficult times.
“Persimmon Homes’ donation will ensure we can support even more people before, during and, sadly, after the loss of a loved one.”
Persimmon Homes West Midlands makes two donations of up to £1,000 every month to grassroots groups and charities in the areas where it is building.
Stephen Cleveley, managing director of Persimmon Homes West Midlands, said: “Community Champions has allowed us to support dozens of good causes such as the amazing work at Dougie Mac. We continue to encourage other such groups to apply – as next month they could be the fortunate beneficiaries.”
