Housebuilder’s donation to help Hucknall charity expand

A Hucknall charity which supports people with learning disabilities plans to improve its premises following a donation from Persimmon Homes Nottingham.

The Hucknall Hope Lea Project, which has managed to stay open during the pandemic, received £1,000 from the Persimmon Homes Community Champions scheme and plans to convert an office into a new meeting space.

Jan Lees from the Hope Lea Project said: “Persimmon Homes’ donation will enable us to complete our plan of renovating an office into a new day care room for our service users.

“This new area will create additional space ensuring we can safely meet the necessary social distancing rules.

“This is wonderful news for our service users and their carer’s.

“Our aim is to develop our service users’ self-confidence, improving their life skills, knowledge and abilities so they can achieve their full potential.”

Persimmon Homes Nottingham makes two donations of up to £1,000 every month to grassroots groups and charities in the areas where it is building.

Neil Follows, managing director of Persimmon Homes Nottingham, said: “Community Champions has allowed us to support dozens of good causes and we continue to encourage other such groups to apply – as next month they could be the fortunate beneficiaries.” Visit www.persimmonhomes.com/charity to apply for Community Champions funding.
