Stoke-on-Trent NHS workers are to be recognised for their hard work after a housebuilder announced it aims to name roads in their honour on its latest development.
Persimmon Homes West Midlands has started work on a new development of 169 homes in the village of Caverswall and is calling on the public to help celebrate the dedication of local NHS heroes.
Up to eight roads on the new Foxfields development could feature names of NHS individuals who are - or have - cared for Stoke on Trent residents during the ongoing pandemic.
Members of the public are asked to nominate their NHS hero, giving their job role and reason why, to [email protected]. The closing date for entries is Saturday 27th February.
Stephen Cleveley, managing director for Persimmon Homes West Midlands, said: “During this unprecedented and challenging time so many people are working harder than ever and longer hours as they support and care for those in need.
“We felt a fitting tribute to celebrate some of these amazing individuals would be to create a lasting legacy at our Foxfield development.”
All nominations must include the name of the NHS hero, their job role, and a brief explanation why their dedication and hard work should be recognised in perpetuity.
“We would like to submit at least eight to ten street names to Stoke on Trent City Council who will make the final decision,” added Stephen.
The Foxfields development, named after the local colliery that closed in 1965, will feature a collection a two, three, four and five-bedroom homes to suit a range of budgets and lifestyle. Persimmon Homes is working towards welcoming its first resident in last summer this year.
