A Cheltenham charity that supports young people with complex disabilities has bagged a £1,000 grant towards a new exercise bike.
National Star has scooped the money from Persimmon as part our long-running and successful Community Champion campaign.
Every month we donate up to £64,000 to good causes across the UK.
National Star provides personal care, therapy, emotional and medical support needs.
The grant will be put towards a specialist Motomed exercise bike, which costs £6,814 and helps with fitness.
Gill Henry, National Lead - Philanthropy at National Star, said: “We’re thrilled to receive this generous donation from Persimmon Homes.
“The young people we support have disabilities including Cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, sensory impairments, acquired brain injuries, genetic conditions, profound and multiple learning disabilities, and autism.
“The young people we support are generally less able to stay fit and often miss out on physical activity despite being well motivated to engage.
“A Motomed exercise bike will give them the opportunity to exercise safely indoors as part of their physiotherapy programmes and leisure activities, regardless of the weather or any coronavirus restrictions.
“Using the bike will bring many health benefits for the young people we support.”
Carly Spear, sales director at Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, said: “We are delighted to be able to support National Star.
“The work they do is invaluable for the young people and their families. I’m sure this new exercise bike will make a huge difference.”
We’re currently building stunning new homes at Yew Tree Gardens in nearby Tuffley.
A range of two, three and four-bedroom homes are available, with prices starting from £221,495.
