£1,000 boost for homeless charity

A London-wide charity working to prevent homelessness has received a £1,000 boost.

Single Homeless Project received the funding through the our Community Champions scheme.

Fabia Dimant, fundraising officer for the Project, said: “We sincerely thank Persimmon Homes for this donation of £1,000 – the money received will allow us to continue to support our clients to end the cycle of homelessness.

“At Single Homeless Project, our vision is of a society where everyone has a place to call home and the chance to live a fulfilling life. From supporting people in crisis to helping people take the final steps towards independence and employment, we make a difference to 10,000 lives every year across all 32 London boroughs.”

The charity works with individuals to tackle the underlying causes of homelessness, such as poor mental health, or drug and alcohol dependency. They work to help vulnerable and socially excluded people to transform their lives by providing support and accommodation, promoting wellbeing, enhancing opportunity and being a voice for change.

Fabia added: “In order to achieve lasting change, our Opportunities Programme was developed with the aim of supporting our clients to build their self-belief and sense of purpose, so they feel able to shape their future path. Working with people in our hostels and in the community, it offers an engaging range of therapeutic and skills-based activities, from arts and crafts, music and drama to sports and gardening. These programmes have a transformative effect and often serve as a turning point for clients in their recovery.”
