Bridgend baby bank receives funding boost

A group helping to address the cost-of-living crisis by providing baby essentials to struggling families in Bridgend has received a cash boost.

Splice Child and Family Project has secured a £1,000 donation from Persimmon Homes West Wales.

The group provides a baby bank service for families in need, supplying essential items such as baby formula, nappies, wipes, food and toiletries.

The gift comes through our long-running Community Champions campaign.

Each month we donate up to £64,000 to good causes across Great Britain, including up to £4,000 in Wales.

Tracey Morgan, of Splice Child and Family Project, said:

“We’re delighted to receive this donation from Persimmon, which will help us to continue our valued baby bank service.

“This service has proved to be a lifeline for many families in the Bridgend County Borough area and, due to the current economic climate and rise in the cost of living, we are receiving more requests for help.

“We also provide e-vouchers for food bank and have a small stock of ambient emergency food parcels for as and when needed.

“We also accept donations of baby equipment and clothes and then re-distribute to families in need.

“We receive no core funding so grants like this are very welcome indeed.”

Sharon Bouhali, sales director at Persimmon Homes West Wales, said:

“We’re pleased to be able to support Splice Child and Family Project with this donation.

“Everyone knows that the current economic situation is incredibly difficult for many families.“It’s a pleasure to be supporting a service which is making a tangible difference to families in Bridgend.”
