Cornwall region has signed up to be a Cornerstone Employer for the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Careers Hub.

Cornerstone Employers are a flagship community of more than 300 businesses across England.

As part of the partnership, Cornwall's regional apprentice manager, Andy Wallis, will join the local Careers and Enterprise Company’s Cornerstone Employer group.

Andy will support the local Career Hub with the delivery of quality careers’ education in Cornwall, as we aim to make sure every young person can find their best next step out of education and into the world of work.

Commenting, Persimmon Homes Cornwall and West Devon’s managing director, Adam Church said:

“Our business is only as strong as our people, and Persimmon recognises the importance of securing the future pipeline of talent to ensure we have a sustainable business.

“Our regional apprentice manager, Andy Wallis, is doing some fantastic outreach work in Cornwall and West Devon, and will be a great ambassador for the business on the Careers and Enterprise Company’s Cornerstone Employer group.

“He will work closely with the local careers hub to engage directly with schools and colleges and promote the great career opportunities that exist at Persimmon.

Set up by government in 2015, the Cornerstone Employer Group’s mission is to help every young person to find their best next step.

They are the national body for careers education in England, supporting schools and colleges to deliver modern, 21st century careers education.
