Funding BOOST for women-only basketball program

The London Basketball Association has received a grant of £1,000 from North London.

The donation, made through the Community Champions scheme, will help fund the Association’s BOOST programme, a 10-week series of female only weekly sessions.

LBA is a charity that supports disadvantaged young people across London. Their work is driven by an ethos of engagement and prevention, addressing specific issues that marginalised young people face which can result in compounded difficulties in their adult lives.

Ali Niama-Nadi from the Association said: “We are raising money for BOOST, our Basketball for Outstanding Opportunities, Skills and Training. This is a 10-week female-only basketball programme that will consist of weekly sessions helping disadvantaged young women stay active, improve mental well-being and develop soft skills.

“BOOST takes place at Caius House Youth Centre in Wandsworth and Persimmon’s funding has enabled to pay for the hire of the courts for the full 10-week period for which we are very grateful.”
