A range of fundraising activities have been undertaken including the recent Summerhill Social summer fair held at the school.

With the sun shining, parents joined pupils and teachers for games, competitions and refreshments. A host of local businesses were also on hand to showcase their products to help the fundraising efforts.

At the fair a presentation was made with Bill Esterson MP and Sefton Borough Councillors in which the school’s charity, the Friends of Summerhill School Association (FSSA) were presented with a cheque of £4,500 by the Managing Director of Persimmon Homes North West.

The donation contributed to a grand total of £6,260 being raised to purchase new school books for all year groups at the school.

Victoria Doran, Chair of the FSSA said: “With the invaluable support of school staff, our volunteers and local businesses we were delighted to have been able to host such a lovely community event, as well as raising money towards our book fund.

“We're very grateful for the donation from Persimmon Homes which meant we have now exceeded this year's fundraising target for school books. The FSSA will continue to support the school to provide more resources and experiences for the children.”

Bill Esterson MP said: “A massive well done everyone at Summerhill Primary School for a brilliant summer fair with such a wonderful range of activities and stalls.

Summerhill Primary is a fabulous school at the heart of the community with great leadership, staff and children. It is encouraging to see the support from Persimmon Homes and the welcome contribution towards the school.”
