Persimmon Homes Cornwall & West Devon has donated £1,000 to Argyle Pride - the Official LGBTQ+ Supporters Group of Plymouth Argyle Football Club - as part of its Community Champions initiative.
This donation will go towards providing essential equipment for the group’s football sessions and supporting members in attending events such as Plymouth Pride.
Argyle Pride was formed in January 2018 with the aim to work with Plymouth Argyle in making sure LGBTQ+ supporters felt safe and welcome at their stadium, Home Park.
Over time, Argyle Pride have built relationships with Plymouth Argyle FC & The Argyle Community Trust which has allowed them to host football sessions for the LGBTQ+ community. These activities see members of the local community take part in training sessions and matches.
Chris Corbett, Managing Director at Argyle Pride, thanked Persimmon for the donation and said:
“We would like to thank Persimmon Homes for their donation which will help us with equipment for our football sessions and help with attending events such as Plymouth Pride next summer. In recognition of their kind donation, one of our trophies will be named after Persimmon Homes for our upcoming football tournament in February.”
Jane Cartwright, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes Cornwall & West Devon, commented:
“We are very pleased to be supporting Argyle Pride, a community organisation that plays an important role in bringing people from the LGBTQ+ community together.
“Our Community Champions scheme is all about supporting organisations and charities in the areas where we develop, and as a prominent housebuilder in Plymouth with sites at Saltram Meadow and Palmerston Heights, we are committed to leaving a positive lasting legacy in the area.”
