Essex office is buzzing with excitement over new arrivals

Thousands of new bees are settling into their new homes at the Essex office after it was identified as a key spot for honey bee hives.

An expert contacted Managing Director Richard Hush to ask if it was possible to install three hives within the green space surrounding the offices in Witham.

Richard said “This area is perfect as we have lots of wide, open space, there is access to a drainage pond that they can skim for water and there is a line of hawthorn and lime trees between us and the bypass behind us which helps them navigate.”

At Persimmon Homes we have been working to create bee-friendly habitats within our new communities with the addition of bee hotels and seed types that encourage bee pollination. The new colony have been very active in the last few days as the sun has come out and Richard is hoping to see their first harvest at the end of summer.

Richard added “Persimmon Essex are delighted to be able to make a positive contribution to the biodiversity here in Witham, and hope this will create wide-reaching environmental gains for the local area.”
