Green light for 68 new homes in Surrey

An application for 68 homes has been approved by members of Guildford Borough Council.

The development at Foreman Road, Ash will offer a range of homes from one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom family homes, including 27 homes for either shared ownership or below market rent.

A new area of public open space has been created to the north of the site with a local area of play for children and pedestrian links to the train station and other local amenities.

Members of Guildford Borough Council’s planning committee had deferred a decision on the application to allow them to carry out a site visit. Having visited the site they were satisfied with the plans and approved the application at their meeting last week.

Almost £700,000 will be invested into local public services and infrastructure through developer contributions, with some of the funding supporting the new road bridge which has recently opened and bypasses the existing level crossing.

Dan Castle, Managing Director for Persimmon Homes Thames Valley, said: “This is a low-density scheme, with extensive areas of public open space and a play area.

“We are pleased members were able to see the benefits of this development during their site visit and have now approved this application allowing us to bring high-quality new homes to Ash.”
