Housebuilder donation helps Coity girls’ football team thrive

A local housebuilder has donated £1,000 to Coity Chiefs Girls Under 8s as part of its Community Champions scheme.

Persimmon Homes West Wales were joined by representatives from the club and local councillors, Amanda Williams and Martin Williams, to mark the donation, which will support the team’s ongoing development and participation in local grassroots competitions.

The funding has gone towards new kit and training costs helping the young players continue to enjoy football in a safe and inclusive environment in Coity and across the wider West Wales region. The Chiefs have over 150 girls between 7 age groups, ranging from ages 6-16,

Persimmon previously developed the Parc Derwen development in Coity, creating over a thousand new homes and a thriving community where many of the team’s young players live.

Persimmon Homes West Wales Sales Director Sharon Bouhali said:

“We are delighted to support Coity Chiefs Girls Under 8s through our Community Champions scheme.

“Youth sports clubs like this one play a vital role in promoting teamwork, confidence, and community spirit among young people.

“Having delivered our Parc Derwen development right here in Coity, it’s especially meaningful for us to give back to the local community and help the next generation of young girl players flourish.”

Coity Chiefs Chairman, Ben Jackson, added:

“We’re so grateful to Persimmon West Wales for their generous donation.

“This support will make a huge difference to our Under 8s team - helping us invest in vital new kit and opportunities for the girls to develop both on and off the pitch.

“It’s fantastic to see a prominent local housebuilder supporting grassroots girls’ football right here in Coity.”

The five-star housebuilder donates £48,000 to good causes and much-valued organisations across Wales each year. Other recent local recipients include Llangynwyd Rangers FC, Penllergaer AFC and Pontarddulais RFC.
