One of the housebuilders behind the Valley Park development in Didcot and a local housing management provider have celebrated the latest handover of homes there.
Persimmon Homes Wessex marked its deal with CBRE Investment Management (CBRE IM) on-site, alongside Pinnacle Group, who are the registered provider at the site and will be managing the tenancies. They were joined by the Leader of Vale of White Horse District Council, Cllr Bethia Thomas.
The handover of 15 properties marks the final tranche of 59 high-quality new homes to be transferred on the first phase of Valley Park. Each one will be going to local people and help address the area’s housing waiting lists.
Persimmon has formed a partnership with CBRE IM to deliver 102 high‑quality, sustainable affordable homes across two phases of development at Valley Park in Didcot.
The news comes only weeks after contractors broke ground on delivering the three-form entry primary school, which will include a nursery and community-use spaces, located adjacent to Common Park and the Local Centre.
Once complete, Valley Park will provide 4,254 homes, two primary schools, a SEN school, local centres, and sports facilities – creating a sustainable, well-connected community for the Oxfordshire town.
All Persimmon properties – including the homes awarded to registered housing providers – will be equipped with sustainable features including air source heat pumps, electric vehicle charging points, and solar panels.
The accredited five-star housebuilder currently has homes available to purchase on the open market at Valley Park, available from £216,995. Its sister company, Charles Church, also has premium homes for sale on its outlet from £384,995.
Cllr Bethia Thomas, Leader of Vale of White Horse District Council, said:
“I was pleased to visit the new homes in Valley Park and learn about the sustainable features which will help keep energy bills and running costs low for families.
“These homes will make a much-needed contribution to the availability of affordable housing in the Vale. I’m thrilled this major site with its new schools and community facilities will be home to thousands of local families for many years to come.”
John Gantlett, Land & Planning Director of Persimmon Homes Wessex, added:
“Persimmon is delighted to partner once again with CBRE IM and Pinnacle after establishing a positive relationship with them across several sites over the years.
“Tackling the housing crisis requires a positive and collaborative approach, and we were pleased to welcome Cllr Bethia Thomas to site so she could see this in action.
“We've made a great deal of progress on-site at Valley Park, having recently broken ground on the new school and handing over all our housing provider properties on the first phase, and we look forward to continuing that good work moving forward.”
Oliver Miller, Director of Rental at Pinnacle Group, commented:
“This handover marks an important milestone for the community, and we’re committed to ensuring residents receive excellent management and support from day one.
“Working collaboratively with Persimmon Homes and CBRE IM has helped us deliver homes that local families can truly rely on, and we look forward to continuing that partnership as the development progresses.”
Anne Xu, Portfolio Manager for the CBRE UK Affordable Housing Fund, also said:
“This latest handover marks another important step in delivering high‑quality, sustainable affordable homes for the Didcot community.
“Long‑term partnerships like this allow us to invest with confidence and consistency, ensuring that homes are well‑designed, energy‑efficient and genuinely meet local housing needs. Valley Park is a great example of how collaboration between the public and private sectors can support the delivery of affordable homes.”
