Community funding helps primary school plant roots for a greener future

Persimmon Homes Central has donated £1,000 to Balsall Common Primary School Academy through its Community Champions scheme.

Balsall Common Primary School Academy is a fully inclusive, three-form entry primary school, committed to providing a nurturing and inspiring environment where children feel safe, valued and encouraged to learn.

The funding will contribute towards the purchase and planting of four established native Hornbeam (Carpinus Betulus) trees within the school grounds to support local wildlife, improve biodiversity and create shaded, calming spaces for pupils to enjoy during playtime and outdoor learning.

Mark Mitchell, Headteacher at Balsall Common Primary School Academy, commented:

“We are delighted that we will be able to enhance our school site, thanks to the donation from Persimmon Homes. Partnerships like this are invaluable to us and make a real difference to children’s experiences as they go through school.”

Paul Coles, Operations Director of Persimmon Homes Central, added:
“We are delighted to support Balsall Common Primary School Academy through our Community Champions scheme. This is a fantastic project that will optimise the school environment and support local wildlife, as well as creating a richer outdoor space where children can learn, explore and connect with nature as part of their school day.

This project will leave a legacy for the school and provide benefits that pupils can enjoy for many years to come.”
