Latest affordable homes handed over at North Somerset site

Farleigh Fields development in Backwell has handed over the latest tranche of homes to a local housing association.

Persimmon Homes Severn Valley has transferred nine properties to Alliance Homes, which will help alleviate pressure on North Somerset Council’s housing waiting list, marking the occasion in July now that tenants have started moving into the properties.

27 of the 82 high-quality homes due to be built on the site off Farleigh Road will be going to Alliance. The properties will be split between social rent and shared ownership.

Alliance Homes is a social housing provider, based in Portishead and Weston-super-Mare. They own and manage over 7,000 homes in Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, and into Somerset. They provide a range of types of affordable homes from rented, to shared ownership and sheltered accommodation.

Farleigh Fields currently has two, three, and four-bed homes available to purchase on the open market from £300,000.

Claire Burton, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, said:

"We are delighted to be working in partnership with Alliance once again to provide much-needed affordable housing for local people in Backwell.

“This collaboration highlights our shared commitment to delivering high-quality homes and ensuring that the benefits of this development are felt across the community.

“We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with Alliance to help meet the growing demand for housing in North Somerset."

Alliance Homes’ Chief Operating Officer, Iain Locl, added:

“I’m delighted to see the first of 25 new affordable homes handed over at Farleigh Fields. These much-needed, new homes, built by Persimmon and delivered through section 106, will give local families the opportunity to put down roots, and be part of a thriving local community. This is another important step towards our goal of delivering 2,000 sustainable and affordable new homes by 2033.”

Persimmon’s presence in Backwell extends beyond housing delivery, donating thousands of pounds to good causes and much-valued organisations in the area as part of its Community Champions scheme, including Backwell Athletic Junior FC Girls, Backwell Playhouse, Ashton & Backwell United FC, and Bristol Normandy Veterans.
