A field sales manager with leading national housebuilder has handed over his last set of keys and finally closed the door on a career spanning 47 years.
Ken Whitelaw, 67, retired last month from an industry that has seen him sell up to 30,000 new homes. Sales Director at Persimmon Homes North West, Dave Hodgson, said Ken was one of a kind.
“Ken and I have worked together at Persimmon for 10 years now and he is one of the best. Without doubt Ken has helped us make this region what it is today – number 1 in the group. That hasn’t happened by luck, it’s down to Ken’s hard work and dedication and he will be greatly missed by us all.”
Industry stalwart Ken began his career back in 1973 when he joined Dale Homes. Other roles followed with many other housebuilders including Pendle Homes, Poco Homes, Walter Lawrence Homes, Hassall Homes and Pilkingtons until 1995 when he joined Persimmon Homes North West. He recently received his 25 years long service award.
Ken has been married to his wife Maureen for 44 years and the couple live in Milnrow, Lancashire. They have 2 children and 6 grandchildren.
Ken said: “I have had a wonderful career and made many friends along the way. I am sorry to be leaving all my work colleagues and wish the company well for the future.”
A celebratory farewell lunch was held for Ken at The Italian Job in Urmston where Persimmon North West is based.
