A dream come true for young family
03 March 2015
A young couple have cause to really celebrate after securing their first family home in just 10 days thanks to Persimmon Homes West Scotland.
After scrimping and scraping for over 4 years it seemed that buying their own home was a distant dream for Melissa Cathcart and Kevin Lynchmoore, both aged 22. The situation became all the more urgent when they were given notice to leave the council flat they called home that belonged to Kevin’s Uncle.
With just 28 days to find a home for themselves and Melissa’s 7-year old son William, they explored every avenue open to them. They never imagined for a moment that their dream of buying their own home might be possible until they visited the Persimmon Homes Newton Farm development on Newton Farm Road in Cambuslang on the 8th December.
Melissa said: “We fell in love with the site and the 2-bedroom Portree house we viewed on our very first visit but at first it still felt that buying was simply a pipedream. Persimmon moved heaven and earth to offer us a practical solution that we could afford - we couldn’t believe our luck!
“We moved in on 19th December, just 10 days after our first viewing, in time for William to enjoy a real family Christmas and open his presents in our own home. It was like winning the lottery!”
Ingrid Gahagan, sales and marketing director at Persimmon Homes West Scotland: said: “We work hard to support our customers throughout the house buying process and offer a wide range of practical solutions that not only assess affordability they often result in a successful buying experience.”
“Our Shared Equity Scheme made the purchase possible for Melissa, Kevin and wee William and I hope that they enjoy their new home at Newton Farm.”
Melissa concluded: “Because the process moved so quickly we didn’t have time to even look for flooring for our new home but that wasn’t a problem with Persimmon, they offered us floor covering throughout which was the real icing on the cake.”
