Aerial photos show the first foundations being dug at South East region new development at Stone Cross, East Sussex.
Work has started on the site off Hailsham Road in Stone Cross and the foundations for the show home were poured last week, a landmark moment within the development process.
The first homes are expected to be ready this winter ready for families to move in before Christmas.
South East region will be building 90 much-needed new homes at Stone Cross, with a mix of two, three and four-bedroom properties to meet demand locally.
Of the 90 new homes being built by the five-star housebuilder, 32 will be transferred to a housing association partner for those registered on Wealden District Council’s housing list, or for those looking for shared ownership homes.
The new development will also feature a unique community amphitheatre which will offer an attractive space for play, recreational activities and performance. Working with councillors, the developer has also refined the design and materials used on site to ensure the homes reflect the character of the local area.
South East region will be investing more than £800,000 in the area through developer contributions. Over £200,000 will be directed into local public services while Persimmon will be planting 116 new trees as part of the innovative green design.
A new play area is being constructed inspired by the Make Space for Girls Campaign. The equipment is specifically designed around activities that young girls enjoy, while also being attractive to young boys.
Martin Crick, Managing Director of South East region, said: “We are delighted to have started work at Stone Cross and will be bringing forward these much-needed new homes.
“We have a proud legacy of delivering high-quality, affordable homes across the South East and our latest HBF customer satisfaction scores show 100% of our customers would recommend us to a friend during the first eight weeks in their new home.”
