Apprentices in the Midlands to soar to new heights
08 October 2024

Three apprentices in the Midlands area have seen their careers take a flying start.
Flynn Westmore, Michael Pittam and Sean Freeman have joined the Northampton-based team and are training to become carpenters through our apprenticeship programme, enabling them to become skilled in their trades. They are now working with Persimmon’s contractors whilst having gained a theoretical background in carpentry. Training for the apprentices is provided by Moulton College.
Sean Freeman, Carpentry Apprentice, said: “My carpentry apprenticeship has been an incredibly rewarding experience so far. I’ve settled in quickly; thanks to the support and guidance I’ve received from both my mentors and the team.
“I feel that I’ve progressed quickly in my apprenticeship because of the supportive environment I’m in. Every day brings new challenges, but I’m gaining confidence in my abilities as I continue to build on my knowledge and refine my techniques. It’s been a fantastic opportunity to learn on the job, and I’m excited about how much I’ve already grown.”
Zac Hurst, Managing Director at Persimmon Homes Midlands, said: “At Persimmon, we’re passionate about developing future talent and equipping our apprentices with the practical skills they need to thrive in the working world, as well as ensuring they have the necessary theoretical background from our partnerships with local colleges.
“It’s a delight to work with our apprentices on a daily basis, helping to coach them throughout the early stages of their career and watch them develop their skills.”
