Approval for next phase of development at former Eye airfield in Suffolk
10 June 2025

A further 127 much-needed new homes are set to be built at Castleton Grange, in Eye.
Our Suffolk business were delighted to see their application for Phase 2 of the development approved by members of Mid Suffolk District Council’s planning committee this week.
The application will bring 127 zero carbon-ready homes to the new community, including 25 for those whose needs are not met through the open market.
Homes will range from two to five bedrooms, and more than half will be built as adaptable homes so they can meet the changing needs of families in the future. Each home will be fitted with an air source heat pump and benefit from an EV charging point.
Persimmon will be making developer contributions of £2.5m towards public services and infrastructure locally.
Ian Hamilton, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes Suffolk, said: “We have included large areas of open space within the layout design for this phase to create a low-density scheme that provides opportunities for residents to enjoy the green space.
“We are delighted that members were able to approve the scheme and allow us to continue building at Castleton Grange in order to meet local demand for new homes.”
