Approval given for new Tewkesbury homes

03 February 2025

The Fiddington Fields development in Tewkesbury has been given the green light to the next phase of high-quality, new homes there.

Persimmon Homes Severn Valley will soon commence works on the third phase of properties at the site, delivering 304 one-to-five bed homes, 105 of which will be reserved for a local housing association to alleviate pressure on local housing waiting lists. One further phase is planned.

This phase of homes – all of which will have solar panels and have electric vehicle charging points – also includes five play areas. The spine road that will serve the entire completed development bus stops, and separate pedestrian and cycle paths throughout.

The southern and eastern boundaries and the centre of the parcel includes a series of retained trees and hedgerows, whilst there is a 15m wide ecological corridor proposed to the south. Bird and bat boxes will be installed to existing trees and to suitable dwellings along this corridor, supporting existing local biodiversity and encouraging new ones.

Financial commitments from the developer for delivery of its share of the completed site amounts to over £700,000 for local library and bus services, as well as over £3.4m going towards early years and primary education.

Three and four-bed homes are already for sale on Persimmon’s first phase at Fiddington Fields from £299,000. Phase two is being delivered by Persimmon’s sister brand, Charles Church. Four-bed homes are available at Mulberry Place from £460,000.

Commenting, Persimmon Homes Severn Valley’s managing director, Claire Burton, said “Persimmon is delighted with the progress we have made so far at Fiddington Fields and are excited to have won planning consent for our next phase of development.

“Our work is delivering much-needed new homes for both local people and new residents who can bring new spending to the area, as well as tackling housing waiting lists.

“The next phase will also yield additional benefits beyond housing, including biodiversity enhancements, active travel incentives, play areas, and financial contributions to local services, demonstrating the multiple benefits of development here.

“We are grateful to officers at Tewkesbury Borough Council for working with us on our application and we look forward to our cooperative relationship going forward as we aim to deliver on our shared vision for the town.”
