Approval granted for second phase of sustainable Kenilworth community
19 June 2024
Approval has been granted by Warwick District Council to develop 144 new homes in the popular location of Kenilworth, Warwickshire.
The site – delivered by our Central team – will form the second phase of the popular Kenilworth Gate development, and will be known as Thickthorn Gardens. Of these new homes, 63 properties will be transferred to a housing association partner for rent and shared ownership.
The wider scheme features biodiversity and sustainability at its heart, with properties being typically 30% more energy efficient than traditional UK homes, helping to reduce energy costs and mitigate environmental impact. Beyond the homes themselves, the second phase will feature a range of open space measures designed to increase sustainability, biodiversity and pedestrian connectivity.
Along with the boost to local housing needs, the wider development will bring with it a range of community benefits - including millions pledged towards the nearby area. Within this amount includes over £7m towards local education, £4m towards local highways improvements and over £1.5m towards local healthcare towards public transport improvements.
Neil Williams, Managing Director at Persimmon Homes Central said: “We’re proud to have secured approval to deliver our second phase at Kenilworth Gate. Our upcoming new community will bring a wide range of new benefits to the area, including major improvements to local roads, public open spaces, healthcare, and education. We’ll continue to work closely with Warwick District Council throughout the build process to deliver on these commitments.”
“This development will not only provide significant environmental and biodiversity enhancements but will also leave a lasting legacy of community benefits for the people of Kenilworth and the surrounding areas.”
