Approval granted for third phase of Kenilworth community
20 December 2024
Approval has been granted by Warwick District Council to develop 267 new homes in the popular location of Kenilworth, Warwickshire.
The site – delivered by our Central team – will form the third and final phase of the popular Kenilworth Gate development. Of these new homes, a significant portion will be transferred to a housing association partner, bringing the total of all homes transferred to a registered provider across the three phases to 40%.
Along with the boost to local housing needs, the wider development will bring with it a range of community benefits - including millions pledged towards the nearby area. This final phase also sets the principles for the infrastructure of the wider development, with the team working with Warwickshire County Council’s Highways team to define and deliver these key aspects of the site.
The wider scheme features biodiversity and sustainability at its heart, with properties being typically 30% more energy efficient than traditional UK homes, helping to reduce energy costs and mitigate environmental impact.
This commitment follows on from Persimmon’s signing of the Homes for Nature pledge, a major new initiative to support wildlife from the Future Homes Hub. As part of this initiative, we will work with the local authority to provide various ecological enhancements to the site – including swift bricks and bat boxes.
Neil Williams, Regional Managing Director at Persimmon Homes Central said: “We’re proud to have secured approval to deliver our third phase at Kenilworth Gate. Our upcoming new community will bring a wide range of new benefits to the area, including major improvements to local roads, public open spaces, healthcare, and education.
“This development will not only provide significant environmental and biodiversity enhancements but will also leave a lasting legacy of community benefits for the people of Kenilworth and the surrounding areas.
“Throughout this final phase of development, we will be working closely with the local community and key stakeholders – including Warwick District Council and Warwickshire County Council - to ensure that our third phase of Kenilworth Gate contributes to addressing local housing need and delivers vital infrastructure for the town.”
