Award nomination for showhome design team

09 October 2020

The interior design team responsible for an award-winning Charles Church development in Cumbria have themselves been nominated for an international prize.

Manchester-based studio YOUTH, who realised the lifestyle attributes at Stone Cross Mansion in Ulverston for Charles Church homes, have been shortlisted for a prestigious Dezeen award. The team designed and dressed the building’s interiors, communal areas and the show apartment.

The benchmark for international design excellence, the Dezeen awards recognise the best design talent from across the globe. YOUTH have been nominated in the ‘Emerging Interior Design Studio of The Year’ category.

John Roocroft, managing director of Charles Church Lancashire, said: “Stone Cross Mansion was an extraordinary renovation project, breathing life back into a derelict building to create stylish and modern homes.

“The interior design work done by YOUTH created a real sense of drama to evoke the lifestyle of people who would want to live at this unique address. We were thrilled to learn they had been nominated for an international award in recognition of their obvious talent and aspirations, and proud that they are the only UK studio to be selected. We wish them all the best of luck.”

Members of the public can vote for YOUTH until Monday 12th October at www.dezeen.com/awards/vote/

YOUTH co-founder Liam McGroarty added: “We’re ecstatic to be flying the flag for design excellence in Manchester. Dezeen is a platform we’ve always admired, and to be recognised by them is a huge achievement in itself. We’re hoping people can get behind us for the public vote and help us put the city on the global map when it comes to design.”

Stone Cross Mansion is a unique development of 19 two and three bedroom luxury apartments in a restored Grade II listed mansion house. Set within stunning landscaped grounds, each individually designed to combine original period features with contemporary accommodation.

Located in the market town of Ulverston, within a ten-minute drive of the Lake District National Park, Stone Cross Mansion won the ‘Best Refurbishment Project’ award at the 2019 Housebuilder Awards and was also nominated for the 2019 WhatHouse? Award.

Properties start at £295,000. For more information visit www.charleschurch.com/stone-cross-mansions or call 01229 440 554 to talk to an on-site sales executive.
