Bid to provide more first time buyer homes in Carlisle
02 September 2020
Persimmon Lancashire is looking to amend its plans at a Carlisle development to meet local demand for first time buyer properties.
The proposals, submitted to Carlisle City Council, would enable the company to provide more two and three bedroom homes at its Tarraby View site, including an additional three affordable homes.
John Roocroft, managing director for Persimmon Lancashire, said: “Since its launch in 2017, Tarraby View has been consistently popular with local buyers.”
“However, it is apparent that there is significant pent-up demand in the area for smaller homes, suitable for first time buyers or young professionals, so we have reconsidered the mix of properties we have available and we believe we can improve the variety we are able to offer.”
“The plans we have submitted would enable us to deliver 29 two bedroom houses and 37 with three bedrooms. We are hopeful of a positive response from the council.”
Tarraby View, on Windsor Way, was originally given planning consent for 276 homes. The new proposals would see this increased overall to 294.
The development currently includes a range of three, four and five bedroom homes, priced from £160,000.
