Blood bike charity celebrates funding win

A blood bike charity that transports blood across Teesside has netted a £3,000 donation from housebuilder Persimmon.

Bloodrun EVS, based in Middlesbrough is made up of a team of volunteers who courier blood for both hospitals and GP surgeries across the region.

Crew members were on hand to receive a cheque from Persimmon Teesside Managing Director, Mark Wheelan, in the presence of the Mayor of Middlesbrough, Chris Cooke.

Ken Bayne, Vice Chair of Bloodrun EVS, said “Every pound donated helps us respond to urgent medical needs, ensuring patients receive the care they require when it matters most. We are immensely grateful for this support, which will allow us to keep saving lives and making a difference in our community.”

Mayor of Middlesbrough, Councillor Chris Cooke, commented: “It was great to meet the Bloodrun EVS team recently at James Cook hospital and learn more about the life saving work they do across our region and beyond. They provide an invaluable service through their tireless work and are a real asset to local people.”
