Bridgend rugby club scores new equipment boost
28 February 2022
A junior rugby club in Bridgend has scored funding for new training equipment for its youngest players.
Cefn Cribwr RFC's Junior Riders and Rider Tots, which provides free rugby sessions for children aged three to 11, has bagged £1,000 from Persimmon.
The donation comes through our Community Champions scheme. Each month we donate up to £64,000 to good causes across the UK, including up to £4,000 in Wales.
Alud Jones, of Cefn Cribwr RFC's Junior Riders and Rider Tots, said: “We’re delighted to secure this generous funding from Persimmon Homes.
“We’re committed to providing free of charge and inclusive rugby sessions to children in the local community.
“Team wear and equipment costs are always borne by the club to ensure sessions are accessible to all.
“We are in need of upgrading and buying new training equipment to meet the growing demand for the sessions and to ensure we have age-appropriate equipment for our early years participants.
“We have held prize draws, sponsored litter picks and community events, but a big gift like this is a huge boost.”
Sharon Bouhali, sales director at Persimmon Homes West Wales, said: “We are delighted to support Cefn Cribwr RFC.
“Rugby is a fantastic way for children and young people to keep fit and learn teamwork skills that will benefit them in their lives going forward.
“It’s great that this club has made the decision to offer sessions completely free of charge, removing any barriers to entry. We hope they enjoy their new equipment.”
