It’s a case of brotherly love for a pair of Rochdale siblings who are both getting married this year and will be setting up home in the same street.
Brothers Christopher and Gareth Howarth both chose the Persimmon Homes development, at Birch Hill Gardens, Rochdale as the perfect place to begin married life.
The duo were able to use the FirstBuy scheme to get themselves on to the property ladder. This government initiative helps first time buyers to secure their home with a smaller deposit.
Care worker, Gareth (24) was the first to use the scheme and recommended it to his brother, who was also eligible to access FirstBuy, and will move into his home in June.
Persimmon Homes sales director, Diane England said: “It’s great to see the FirstBuy scheme helping first time buyers get on to the property ladder.
“What’s nice about this story is that it’s two couples who are starting their married lives together and, with them being related, really helps to build a positive community spirit.”
Christopher (27) who works at the local leisure centre said: “I’ve always got on well with my brother and to be only a few door away from him, will be a great.“
Gareth added: “My girlfriend and I are thrilled to be in our new home, and it is a lovely feeling having family living a stone’s throw away.”
Birch Hill Gardens is a new build development of desirable 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom houses for sale in Rochdale, ranging from £114,396-£299,995.
FirstBuy enables first time buyers to purchase their dream home with an equity loan for 20 per cent of the purchase price from Persimmon and the government, putting down a five per cent deposit and raising a mortgage for the remaining 75 per cent. There is no interest to pay on the equity loan for the first five years.
