Buxton school receives funds for fiction books
03 February 2022

Buxton Junior School has been selected as a North West Community Champion, and received £1,000.
The school has used the Community Champions funding to buy some whole class sets of high-quality fiction books to promote their book-led curriculum.
Headteacher Ros Carter said: “Every child in class has the same book, without having to share, to read and refer to. Their learning and enjoyment improve significantly with having a book each.
“The Year 5s have recently studied the book Varjak Paw by SF Said. It's all about a cat who leaves home on a journey and has to learn how to survive; the children have loved it!
“We are so grateful to Persimmon for this funding.”
Buxton Junior School caters for children from Year 3 to Year 6 and is less than two miles from Persimmon’s development of new homes. College Hill Park is a stunning collection of three and four-bedroom homes designed to meet the needs of first-time buyers, growing families and people moving up the property ladder.
