Persimmon Homes

Capital adventure sponsored by region

15 November 2012

A group of Year 6 school children is off to London for an action packed visit thanks to the generosity of Persimmon Homes Anglia

Persimmon has sponsored next month’s day trip for pupils from Harleston Primary School to the tune of £750, which will cover the cost of train travel for all 59 youngsters.

While in London on November 8, the 10 and 11 year olds will enjoy a boat trip on the Thames, a visit to the Tate Modern, and a visit to the Globe Theatre which will include a workshop with a professional actor, theatre tour and the opportunity take to the stage themselves.  After that, the students will walk across the Millennium Bridge to St Pauls Cathedral.

Class teacher Anna Prutton said: “Persimmon’s very generous donation will make a huge difference to this annual trip, as it will cover the train fare of every pupil. In the past many families have found it difficult to fund opportunities like this and therefore some children have been unable to participate.

“We really can’t thank Persimmon Homes enough. The London trip is such an exciting event; we cram as much into the day as possible to inspire the pupils and it changes how they feel about learning.”

Mrs Prutton added: “We’ve been doing role play this week, with the children practicing getting on off the tube. We are well prepared and now just hoping for lovely weather to complete a fabulous day.

“Persimmon’s presence is very high profile in Harleston and the children have really enjoyed being consulted over the naming of the new development.”

Andrew Fuller, Persimmon Homes Anglia managing director said: “We are delighted to again fund Harleston Primary School’s travel for the Year six trip to London, and hope that they have a fantastic day in the capital.

“Through our development at Sancroft Square we have established good, strong links with the school, and this relationship was strengthened still further when pupils chose the name for our new development coming soon to Harleston, The Poppies.”

The Poppies is a stunning development of two, three and four bedroom houses and two and three bedroom bungalows.
