Carmarthen man lands top training role

Justin John has landed a top training role at Persimmon Homes

Justin John has been appointed as a regional training manager at Persimmon Homes, looking after the West Wales, East Wales, Severn Valley and Wessex regions.

Justin, who previously worked within the HR and training team at Dixons Carphone, will be responsible for training and advising Persimmon's team of sales advisors and sales managers.

Justin, aged 35, said: "I was delighted to be offered this job with Persimmon. I started in the middle of February and it's been a really exciting journey so far with plenty to learn.

The role involves working primarily with the sales advisors and sales managers to make sure we deliver the best experience we can to all of our customers across our different sites and regions. It's important that wherever they are looking to purchase their new home they get the same positive experience.

It's really interesting to work with the different regions as they all cater for different areas and communities and this means adopting different styles day by day.

I'm also working with site managers and other departments as well as solicitors and financial advisors to learn the industry from the ground up.

We've got great teams working on all of our sites and an important part of my role is recognising where our colleagues are doing a great job.

It's also important that we are honest with ourselves though and appreciate that there will be challenges sometimes. Developing our teams and learning from these challenges is central to my role and the bit that I really enjoy."

Justin has first-hand experience of the company’s customer care as he was, coincidentally, buying a Persimmon home while applying for the job. He is now settled in his new home in at the Cwrt y Llwyfen development, which he shares with his fiancé and two children.

"It was very useful for me to have seen things from the other side of the coin as a first time buyer," said Justin. "I've experienced all of the stages, emotions and pressures that the customer has to go through when buying a house."

Cwrt y Llwyfen, off Llysonnen Road, Johnstown, is made up of 114 units. Around 20 per cent of the development has already been sold, but there is still a good selection of three and four bedroom homes available.

The on-site marketing suite is open Thursday to Monday, 11am to 6pm.
