Cash boost for anti-bullying events

A Southampton community events team is the latest recipient of funding from Persimmon Homes.
GoGeek Events successfully applied for Persimmon Homes Community Champions scheme, which awards up to £1,000 to two charities or local good causes each month.
The not-for-profit events team, which has been running since 2017, creates ‘Comic Con’ themed events to promote anti-bullying, equality, and empowerment messages within the local community.
Mark Hendley, from the GoGeek Events, said: “We are beyond grateful for the donation from Persimmon Homes. As a non-profit organisation, we rely on funding to help us provide a positive, safe, and socially fun environment for the local community.
“We work with many other organisations around the area covering topics such as mental health, domestic violence and the LGBT community. However, we want to expand this further.
“We just want people to feel free to express themselves and have fun, and this donation will hopefully allow us to do more of this.”
Graeme Cole, sales director of Persimmon Homes South Coast, said: “We are really pleased to help fund GoGeek Events as they represent all the key values a healthy and vibrant local community should hold.
“Our Community Champions scheme was established to help organisations that make a real difference to the lives of those living in the areas where we are building, which GoGeek does. We can’t wait to see what’s next for the company.”
This is just one of two donations that Persimmon South Coast offers each month through its Community Champions Scheme. Persimmon Homes also gives away more than £1 million to projects targeting under-18’s in their Building Futures initiative.
