Central team gives £1,000 cash boost to Coventry-based special needs school
03 March 2023

A special educational needs (SEN) school in Coventry has secured a £1,000 donation from our Central team to refurbish the school’s playground, creating an engaging environment for pupils.
The donation was made as part of our Community Champions initiative. Kingsbury Academy provides an education for pupils aged 4-11 with significant learning disabilities. More than half of the children at the school have autistic spectrum conditions, while others have additional needs, including sensory processing difficulties.
John Darch, Chair at Kingsbury Academy PTFA, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Persimmon Homes for this kind donation. We’ve been working to raise money for a new playground and this boost will certainly help us in reaching our goals.
“These funds will help towards the refurbishment of our new outdoor space, which will create an environment for our pupils not just to play in but to provide increased social and learning opportunities. Additionally, SEN children need stimulation and the opportunity to self-regulate. With new facilities, this will be much easier for them.”
Sarah Preston, Sales Director at Central, said: “What we do is about much more than just building homes, it’s about leaving a lasting positive legacy in the communities that we build in. We’re always delighted to lend a hand to local schools and community groups to boost their ongoing initiatives or contribute to causes that mean a lot to them.”
“It’s great to see that our donation will help Kingsbury Academy in creating a new outdoor environment for its pupils.”
