29 October 2024
The Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities at Coventry City Council was welcomed to our Central team’s Whitmore Place community in Coventry to hear about our work in delivering high quality homes for local people.
Cllr Naeem Akhtar - as well as officials from the council - was given a tour of the development, meeting with the team to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the housing sector, Persimmon’s work with registered housing providers, as well as the site’s progress more generally.
Cllr Naeem Akhtar, Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities at Coventry City Council, said: ‘It was great to spend some time visiting the site and seeing new home being developed in the city. It’s really important that we have more affordable properties available to local people and we are keen to work with developers across Coventry to bring forward new housing schemes.
“We want to see homes developed that are for general sale but also either for rent or to allow people to purchase their own affordable property or get on the housing ladder.”
Neil Williams, Managing Director at Persimmon Homes Central, said: “It was great to welcome Cllr Akhtar and the team at Coventry City Council to Whitmore Place to demonstrate the work we’re doing to deliver affordable, quality homes for people in and around the city.
“We’re committed to working closely with key stakeholders and decision makers throughout the process of creating our developments; from the initial land purchase to the final occupation on site and look forward to continuing our work with the council going forwards.”
