Children name the new houses for sale in Salisbury, Wiltshire
30 March 2011
A pupil from Salisbury has secured a place in the history books after coming up with the name of a new housing development.
Persimmon Homes South Coast enlisted the help of children from Manor Fields Primary School on Highbury Avenue to think of a name for a new housing scheme on Downton Road.
Rob Allen, sales director from Persimmon Homes South Coast who instigated the initiative, comments: “We had an overwhelming number of entries through from children at Manor Fields Primary School and I’d like to thank each and every one of them for their enthusiasm and creative ideas.
“After much deliberation, we decided on Osmund Fields, submitted by seven year old Jasmine Antunovic-Fry.
“The panel of judges felt ‘Osmund Fields’ really captured the essence of the location for the new houses for sale in Salisbury, as St Osmund was the Patron Saint of Salisbury, and we would like to thank everyone, especially Jasmine, as it was clear she had put a great deal of thought into a name which was reflective of the local area.”
As a thank you for taking part, Persimmon presented Jasmine with Toys R Us vouchers and donated £200 worth of book vouchers to the School.
Across the Group, Persimmon Homes takes its role in the community extremely seriously and the development naming competition was an initiative designed to forge a greater working relationship between local schools and Persimmon.
Homes on release at Osmund Fields are currently priced from £167,965.
