Circus school’s funding boost

05 May 2020

An arts charity from Great Yarmouth is celebrating a £1,000 funding boost for its circus school project.

SeaChange Arts, which provides a year-round programme of workshops, classes and events, will receive the donation from our Community Champions scheme. The match-funding initiative seeks to support grassroots groups and charities in areas where we're building.

Katy Kingston from SeaChange Arts said: “As an independent arts charity, we focus on providing positive experiences for local young people, particularly those from more socially or economically disadvantaged backgrounds. We deliver circus and street arts training, including the Drillaz Circus School, which every year teaches acrobatics, juggling, unicycle and other fun activities to support health and wellbeing. This very much appreciated donation from Persimmon will enable us to purchase new circus equipment such as stilts and balance plates, to allow more local children to learn new confidence-building skills.”

Michelle Baker, sales director at Persimmon Homes Anglia, said: “Our Community Champions scheme was established to support small local charities like SeaChange Arts, bringing much-needed activities to the neighbourhoods that need them most. From this month, the Community Champions scheme is set to focus on groups working with and supporting the over-70s, to help those most likely to be isolated during the coronavirus lockdown. We award two grants of up to £1,000 every month to groups, charities and organisations from across the region. We have also launched our £1million Building Futures charity scheme for projects that benefit young people aged under 18. We’ve made it really simple to apply for funding, and we’re urging good causes and charities to apply for next month’s donations by completing an online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity.”
