Club is bowled over by donation
02 December 2020
A Staffordshire bowling club has received £1,000 to help maintain its bowling green.
Due the current coronavirus restrictions, and an ageing membership, the club has not been playing, so all its traditional fundraising events and activities have been cancelled, which normally fund the maintenance of its bowling green.
Philp Bradley from the club said: “Our club is well used and very beneficial for the physical and mental well-being of our members. Our membership fees, team tournaments and events help fund the maintenance of the green. With the lack of these funds Persimmon Homes’ donation is a huge boost to securing the club’s future. It will help us progress our winter maintenance program to help ensure the green is ready for when our members can return.”
David Greengrass, head of sales for Persimmon Homes West Midlands, said: “Covid-19 is having a massive impact on older people, so we are very pleased to support a club that benefits the health and well-being of these individuals.”
Organisations can apply for Persimmon Homes Community Champions by completing a simple online form.
