Community cash for Preston class

Two Preston organisations have been awarded £1,000 donations from our Community Champions fund.

Friends of Moor Hey School and Trust House Lancashire were selected for support after applying to the scheme, which aims to help grassroots groups and charities that help people in the areas where the company is building.

Diane Finch, sales director at our Lancashire region, said: “Our Community Champions initiative enables us to help those who are making a real difference to the lives of local people, and both of this month’s deserving recipients are certainly doing that.”

Moor Hey School, at Lostock Hall, provides expert support for children aged 4-18 with learning difficulties and special needs. The school’s dedicated staff are committed to helping students develop skills and confidence within a safe, secure and positive environment. Persimmon’s donation will help towards the costs of a four-day residential trip to the Isle of Man, where key stage 4 and 5 students will be able to take part in a range of adventure and team-building activities.

Trust House Lancashire is a registered charity helping victims of rape and sexual assault to recover from their experiences. The Preston-based organisation supports people of all ages and genders through a range of counselling and therapy activities. The donation from Lancashire region will help to fund the charity’s adult counselling service, which is experiencing ever-increasing demand. Anyone interested in the charity’s work can find out more at www.trusthouselancs.org

Diane Finch added: “Our Community Champions initiative makes two donations of up to £1,000 each month and we are encouraging more groups alike to apply via our website.”
